ELP and Food

Met with a Dave Ramsey ELP today. It was a little nerve racking heading into an insurance office. They always try and sell you stuff. The meeting lasted an hour...we talked about money, and umbrellas, and houses. In the end, I walked out with over $400 in savings!!! Wow!

Last night, Gwen and I went to Aldi for our bi-weekly shopping trip. It was more crowded than normal. I think people are starting to see Aldi for the great store it is...low prices...quick shopping...quality food. Notice I said quality and not great. The food is good, but not as good as name brand...but still very tasty. It's funny to have a whole cabinet full of Fit and Active food. Anyways, we paid using the envelope system. Basically, at the beginning of the month, we go to the ATM and take out the total amount we've budgeted for groceries for the month, then we put it in the envelope. We only spend what we have in the envelope that month for groceries...and we have to have the envelope in hand to pay for the groceries. It's sure a different way to pay for things...but, as Dave Ramsey says, "normal is broke", so I'm okay being different.

Still working on Baby Step 2...should be done by July!!!!, then onto step three.
